Takoma
Park is a small town right outside of DC filled with artists and boutique
shops that sit right on the line of the urban workings of the Nations
Capital. The constant opposites of a small liberal town and urban
decay make for a truly unique community.
Its
here that Alcian Blue have been writing and recording in their basement
for the past 5 years under the radar of labels and slowly building
a solid following of listeners at their volume-consuming live shows.
Forming a tight bond with neighbors Skywave, the two bands often
hit the road together destroying sound systems and ear drums everywhere.
From strobes and blue lights to projectors and trippy high school
science films, these shows were drenched in chaos and psychadelia
often leaving the audience in a dizzying haze.
On
record, Alcian Blues music is layered with fuzz and feedback.
Though immediately catchy, listeners can expect to always find something
else buried under the chaos waiting to scratch the surface. With
pounding rhythms and swirling guitars and synths, vocals of murder,
suicide, and ghosts wash in and out of the maelstrom. The claustrophobic
atmosphere they create makes one wonder whether they are playing
rock and roll or trying to conjure up demons. Either way, one listen
and youll be itching to hear more while simultaneously ruining
the speakers of your stereo system.
