NThe
New Year started quite a bit different than expected for RAKE in 2003.
After a couple of years that saw RAKE on the main stages at such major
Canadian music festivals as Stage 13, touring in support of such major
acts as Nickelback, Default, 54-40, Big Sugar, The Watchmen, and Theory
of a Deadman, and a development deal with a prominent Canadian record
label . things weren't all roses for the band at the start of this
year. Despite the fact that there was an ever-increasing interest
in the band, their former lead singer decided to pursue other options
and left RAKE. This would have left most bands reeling . but not RAKE!
The hunt for a new singer started in earnest. During the summer, Chris
"Maz" Ryan decided to get his band in to the studio to record
a demo or two. It couldn't have worked out better! Engineer Phil Anderson
(Powersound Studio) knew that RAKE was looking, and was impressed
with Ryan's abilities in the studio. He made a suggestion . Maz met
the band . and the rest, as we say, is history! RAKE was back on the
scene!
Fueled
by the injection of Maz's raw energy and amazing vocals, RAKE is
ready to once again make a run for the top. A veteran rock band
that's been together since 1996, Jode, Chris, and Robin couldn't
be happier! Building on their previous two independent releases
(RAKE - 1997/Ritual Human - 2000) RAKE is hard at work writing another
tour de force rock album. RAKE is also busy booking shows to reassert
themselves as one of Canada's premiere live acts! Look for them
at a venue near you soon!
